Nero Picasso

Nero Picasso is named for the obvious reason. White and silver swirl across a black ground in wide, painterly strokes that fold back on themselves. Fine golden threads run through the white in places, and no two slabs are alike. The drawing reads like ink stirred into water and caught mid-movement. It is a calcite marble from Kırşehir, in Central Anatolia. It is bought as artwork. A book-matched pair behind a bar, the face of a reception desk, a fireplace, one wall, and the room is finished. Matched four ways it becomes a full composition, and it is one of the very few stones that earns the trouble.
