Alexander Black
Clean white veins cross Alexander Black in long, straight lines, branching into finer threads. White flecks are scattered across the dark field between them and catch the light. The ground beneath is a deep, even black. It is quarried in the Amanos mountains above İskenderun, and it is the Turkish stone most often chosen in place of Nero Marquina. One island top, one stair run or one bathroom floor is enough on its own, and a pale interior finds its centre of gravity around it. The white veining is what keeps it stone. It moves, it varies, and it belongs to a particular block out of a particular mountain. That is where it parts company with anything manufactured to look like it.
